Ask EEBINS – Why insure a car I’m not using?

Ask Evans, Ewan & Brady – Why should I insure a vehicle I’m not currently using?
Many times, people mistakenly believe that because they aren’t using a particular car, then it doesn’t need to be insured. For example, you may leave a car at your summer home or another second residence for several months out of the year.

Even left in the garage, your car is subject to vandalism, fire, theft and other physical damage occurrences. For example, if your garage were to burn in a fire, your car is not covered by homeowners insurance. Remember, too, that with many insurance companies, auto rates may be better when you have continuous coverage.
